Boost for pets as South Wales vet practice opens new clinic

A NEW £1.7 million state-of-the-art veterinary clinic has opened in South Wales to transform the care of pets.

Caerphilly Veterinary Clinic has welcomed the first patients through the doors of its new facility in Castle View Shopping Centre.

A retail unit that was previously a supermarket has been transformed into a new clinic to provide more services for clients and the best possible care of patients.

Demand for high quality veterinary care means Caerphilly Vets, which has been at the heart of the community for nearly 40 years, has outgrown its current premises in Market Street, which will remain open as a branch surgery.

The move to a much larger, modern facility will enable the practice team to enhance the service it provides. The new facility will boast:

  • A spacious reception area, with separate waiting areas for cats and dogs.
  • Six consultation rooms, including a cat-only consult room.
  • Two operating theatres.
  • Dental suite with dental X-ray machine.
  • On-site laboratory.
  • Separate kennels for dogs and cats and an outdoor exercise area
  • Onsite parking.

The extra space will enable Caerphilly Vets to offer new services for pets, including orthopaedic and specialist surgeries, pain management clinics, physiotherapy and behaviour training.

Investment for the project has come from VetPartners, a larger veterinary group led by members of the veterinary profession of which Caerphilly Vets is a part.

Caerphilly Vets Practice Manager Sarah Light said the clinic is opening after seven months of careful planning to ensure it meets the needs of patients and their owners.

Sarah said: “Our new clinic is going to transform what we can do. We pride ourselves on offering outstanding care for our patients and we’ve opened the new clinic because we want to help more pets and introduce new services as we are already at full capacity in Market Street.

“The additional space will enable us to offer a range of different services, such as pet confidence clinics and specialist surgeries, that will benefit pets and we can offer more appointments so we help more patients.

“We’ve spent the last seven months making the space our own and everything has been carefully designed to ensure that visiting the vets is as stress-free as possible for both pets and their owners. Clients can also be assured that our team remains the same, and they will continue to see the vets, nurses and receptionists that they know and trust.

“The new practice is in a very accessible location, and one of the biggest benefits is that we can offer on-site parking. If clients prefer, they can still come to see us in the town centre at Market Street and we’ll be offering the same appointments there as we always have.”
