FAQs
What is the difference between a preventative health plan and pet insurance?
Our Pet Health Plan predominantly offers preventative, planned treatments and services, which are not generally covered by pet insurance. The plan will not provide cover or financial benefit for your pet in the event of an illness or accident but can help you spread the cost of routine healthcare across the year through monthly payments. The two options complement each other by providing cover for different situations when you need it.
What pets do you offer Pet Health Plans for?
We offer Pet Health Plans for your dogs, cats and rabbits.
What is included in the Pet Health Plan?
Vaccinations
Our vaccinations come with a comprehensive nose to tail clinical examination with a vet, alongside healthcare, nutrition and lifestyle advice.
| Core vaccines | Additional vaccines (as required) | |
| Dog | Canine distemper, infectious canine hepatitis, canine parvovirus, leptospirosis | Kennel cough, rabies |
| Cat | Feline herpesvirus, feline calicivirus, feline panleukopenia virus | Feline leukaemia virus, rabies |
| Rabbit | Myxomatosis and rabbit viral haemorrhagic disease types 1 & 2 |
The plan includes an annual core booster vaccination or if needed a primary / lapsed vaccination course to get them started / back on track, with additional kennel cough protection for dogs and feline leukaemia virus protection for cats as required.
A 25% discount on rabies vaccination is also included when this is required.
- Your vet will advise you on whether the additional vaccines are appropriate for your pet, based on an assessment of their lifestyle, risk, travel requirements and your individual preferences.
- If your pet is unwell, their ability to respond to vaccinations may be affected. In this situation your vet will discuss the options with you, but it may not be appropriate to proceed with immunisation.
- Your vet may be unable to administer the vaccine due to your pet’s temperament (as assessed by our clinical team), or in the case of global vaccine shortages.
Parasite protection
- For dogs and cats this includes protection against fleas, ticks (as required), intestinal worms and lungworm (as required for dogs) using veterinary-prescribed parasite treatments. Tailored preventative treatment is provided throughout the year (as needed) based on your dog or cat’s lifestyle, regional risk, travel history / requirements and your individual preferences. Specific products for your pet to travel outside the UK are not included.
- For rabbits, a 25% discount on fly repellent is included for seasonal protection against flystrike (as part of a wider preventative plan), as recommended by your vet, based on your rabbit’s health status, lifestyle and environmental risk factors; other components of any wider preventative plan are not included.
One routine consultation with a vet
- Covers the cost of one routine consultation with a vet, per plan year, for any new or pre-existing condition.
- Emergency, out-of-hours, and non-standard (e.g. extended or pet travel) veterinary consultations are not included (please ask the practice for further clarification).
Additional consultations and complimentary clinics
For all consultations and clinics, any products, additional services or follow-up care provided, including medications, treatments, diagnostic tests or additional consultations, will be charged at normal rates.
Six-month health check with a vet nurse
- One wellness health check per plan year with a vet nurse including healthcare, nutritional and lifestyle advice.

Selected complimentary vet nurse clinics

Discounted or complimentary procedures and services
One vet recommended Wellness Blood Screen (included) or Enhanced Wellness Screen (£10 charge) per plan year (dogs & cats).
All available wellness screening options will be discussed with you by your practice, to help select the right option for your pet; in certain situations, your vet may advise that wellness screening is not appropriate in which case it will not be offered.
Wellness screening tests may take several days to be reported back to you; your practice team will advise on when you can expect your pet’s results at the time of sampling.
The cost of blood sampling (excluding sedation if required), sample collection pot and gloves (where needed), processing fee, laboratory test, and interpretation and reporting of results is included.
The wellness screening options can be used either at the annual booster appointment or at the 6-month health check but are not available for sick pets or at other times.
Any follow-up care including further testing, treatment that is advised based on the results or laboratory fees incurred due to the stool sample (enhanced wellness screen only) not being provided by the owner until after the test cut-off, will be charged at normal rates.
One wellness urine test per plan year (dogs & cats)
- Includes the costs of wellness urine testing (urine dipstick test and measurement of specific gravity), processing fee and interpretation and reporting of results.
- The wellness urine test discount can be used either at the annual booster appointment or at the six-month health check but is not available for sick pets or at other times.
- Urine samples for the wellness test should be collected by free catch for dogs (using a pot to catch free flowing urine) or from a cat litter tray containing non-absorbent cat litter (provision of non-absorbent cat litter for use at home will incur an additional cost).
- Any follow-up care, including further testing or treatment that is advised based on the results, will be charged at normal rates.
