We're committed to developing our business sustainably
As we’ve grown as a business, so has our responsibility to the environment.
We’re striving to make our group more sustainable and eco-friendly, through reducing our energy consumption, recycling PPE, cutting back on single-use plastic and creating wildlife gardens.
Our sustainability strategy is helping us to reduce our carbon footprint, cut waste and supercharge our charitable activities.
We’ve committed to a range of short and long-term goals that put sustainability at the heart of everything we do, reflecting our ethos of developing VetPartners in an efficient, ethical, sustainable and profitable way.
Taking our responsibility to the planet seriously
We have a dedicated team to support practices with all aspects of sustainability, including environmental compliance, reducing waste, their carbon footprint and engaging colleagues and clients. Our practice teams also play a key role, with our network of green champions enabling our practices to share knowledge and ideas to help each other with sustainability.
We’re helping our practices to achieve the prestigious Investors in the Environment accreditation, which enhances their reputation with existing and potential clients, makes practices more attractive when recruiting and can save money on utility bills.
We were the first veterinary group to provide Zero Waste Boxes for more than 300 of our sites in England, Scotland and Wales to recycle extra PPE during the global health pandemic.
We’ve had some fun along the way, too! It’s been amazing to see the wildlife gardens that our teams have built to attract birds, bugs and beetles and give their colleagues a peaceful place to relax in nature.
Giving back
Giving back to causes and initiatives that we care about is a key priority for our VetPartners family, and we’re proud to support charities across the UK, Europe and further afield.
We match up to 100% of donations raised by our team members for registered charities, while colleagues can make regular, tax-free donations to a charity of their choice through our Payroll Giving scheme.
As a group, we have raised money for charities such as StreetVet, Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust, The Cinnamon Trust, Macmillan Cancer Support, Vetlife, The British Red Cross Society, Seaful and Pets As Therapy, to name but a few. We have been a corporate supporter of World Land Trust’s Buy an Acre project since 2022, helping them to purchase land and protect it for wildlife in perpetuity.
In 2024, we set up The VetPartners Foundation to bring together all of the charitable work and fundraising carried out by individuals, veterinary practices, businesses and central support teams from across our group.
All VetPartners team members also have the opportunity to take a paid volunteering day once a year to help a charity or community initiative.
