Known for its connections to the King Arthur legend, the South West has a rich history and legendary folklore. It is also home to cheddar cheese, cream teas, crabs, Cornish pasties and cider!
Its largest city is the metropolitan and university favourite Bristol, while Plymouth and Bournemouth boast excellent seasides. Exeter and Cheltenham are also popular locations.
The South West has four world heritage sites, including Stonehenge, the Cornwall and West Devon mining landscape, the Jurassic coast and the tourist-friendly spa town of Bath, which has links to the Romans and the author Jane Austen.

The region also includes the West Country, the Dartmoor and Exmoor national parks and part of the New Forest.
Popular attractions include the Glastonbury music festival, the Eden Project, the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta and Cornwall’s surfing beaches.
The South West also lies on several main railway lines, including the Great Western, which goes to Paddington Station in London, and the Cross Country, which runs to Manchester and into Scotland.
