Driven and experienced individual sought for busy first opinion small animal and equine practice in the Channel Islands (Guernsey).
The practice is comprised of twelve vets all of whom work to an extremely high standard to serve a discerning clientele. The practice is furnished with all the equipment required to investigate and treat conditions medically and surgically, in light of the geographical limitation for referral.
Several certificate holders are already working in the practice and although having a certificate is not a requirement for this position, a special interest in an area of either medicine or surgery would be an advantage.
We are searching for an individual who is looking to settle and make the island their home.
The practice is looking to open a large new facility in 2025/2026 which will be a very exciting project to be involved in.
The Role:
This post will primarily be a clinical one comprising a four-day week, with time allocated for managerial work.
Our Clinical Directors are responsible for the day to day running of the business, making decisions on strategy and progression of the practice, as well as the handling of day-to-day queries from every section of the practice.
This role allows an experienced vet to have a say in how the practice should be run and have input in how to develop our clinical services and shape the team. There will the option to choose a specific area of the business in which you might have a greater interest and take responsibility for this.
The understanding of the financial running of a practice and the ambition to progress the business will be a distinct advantage.
As we are about to embark on a new hospital project, there will be a requirement for the Clinical Directors to be involved in the specifics of the planning for this, as well as potentially overseeing some of the local elements of the build project.
Liaising with our BDD and senior management team on a regular basis allows an insight into the running of the wider group and the CD has the opportunity to feedback on both clinical and managerial related issues.
This post might also suit a couple as the practice is willing to accommodate flexible working for a Clinical Director’s partner.
In return, the successful candidate can expect to earn a well above average salary and benefit from the favourable taxation status of a Channel Island location compared to mainland UK.
The Area:
Guernsey is a very beautiful and very safe island on which to raise children. Residents enjoy an excellent standard of living with great transport links to the UK. The local schools are of an excellent standard and islanders benefit from a private healthcare system.
