VetPartners are delighted to launch Project NURSE! Project NURSE stands for Nurturing and Utilising R(E)VN Skills and Experience

Project NURSE aims to improve animal health and welfare through addressing the strong interest among our equine nursing teams in developing their clinical roles and providing more client-facing services.

In this first stage of Project NURSE we are looking for horse owners to complete a short questionnaire about their perceptions of and experiences with registered equine veterinary nurses (REVNs). The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Your responses are anonymous, but you can at the end be transferred to put your details into a prize draw to win £100 ‘Love to Shop’ vouchers. The project has received approval from the RCVS Ethical Review Panel.

This first stage of the project is a collaboration between the VetPartners Equine Nursing and Client Communication Special Interest Groups, with support from the Equine Clinical Board and the Clinical Board Support Team. Phillippa Pritchard, Liphook Equine Hospital, commented: “Project NURSE is close to my heart, having been a REVN for a number of years it is clear that our skills are underutilised and I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of changing this. I strongly believe that by utilising our skill set we will provide an even better service to our patients and clients”

Julia Shrubb, Ashbrook Equine Hospital and Deputy Chair of the VetPartners Equine Clinical Board, added: “As a vet I have worked with many experienced, knowledgeable and incredibly caring nurses who are an invaluable part of the hospital team. Enabling Equine Nurses to use their skills in a wider setting will ultimately improve the care we, as a veterinary team, can provide to horses and their owners”

At VetPartners we believe in delivering outstanding care to our patients and clients, and involving clients in projects such as Project NURSE is important to help achieve this. For more information about the surveys, please follow this link

Dr Rachel Dean, Director of Clinical Research and Excellence in Practice and Chair of the VetPartners Clinical Board, added “Veterinary Nurses are critical in the delivery of veterinary healthcare in both small animal and equine practices. It is important that we have more evidence to support the work that they do and I am delighted to see the launch of our Project NURSE”

Julian Rishworth, Equine Director commented “VetPartners central ethos revolves around practices being a great place to work and striving for clinical excellence. Nurses are such an integral part of practice teams that to not develop them to their full potential and then not allow them to fully use their skills is to fail the team, our clients, their horses and our own group aspirations”
