Boost for Halifax pet owners as Shearbridge Vets invests in new nursing facilities

PODGY pets and puppies are among the patients set to benefit from a revamp at a Halifax veterinary practice.

Shearbridge Vets in Hipperholme, Halifax, has created a modern, new veterinary nurse consult room to expand its services.

The nurse room will enable Shearbridge Vets to hold more weight clinics to educate pet owners about diet and exercise, along with nail clipping, puppy and kitten second vaccinations, and post-operation check ups.

The new nursing room will be occupied by Registered Veterinary Nurse Kathy Bailey, who has helped to treat thousands of poorly pets during 33 years working at Shearbridge Vets’ two sites in Hipperholme and Queensbury, Bradford.

Kathy said: “We have revamped and completely modified a consult room to create a suitable facility for nurse consults and to provide the best in pet healthcare.

“It will enable us to spend more time with clients and their pets as previously we were sharing a room with a vet so there were time constraints.

“I have been holding weight clinics for more than 30 years and this means I can do more to advise owners and help with diet, weight and an exercise regime.

“There is a big demand from owners who want to arrange veterinary nurse consultations. They can come in and have a chat and have more time with a nurse.

“The new room will help us to increase our nursing service at the branch.”
