Seventh heaven for vet practice as £650,000 revamp plans revealed

A WORCESTER veterinary practice has been boosted by £650,000 of investment to expand one of its sites in the city.

Work is underway for two separate extensions to Severn Veterinary Centre’s Berkeley House in Berkeley Way, that will also allow to the practice to provide on-site 24/7 emergency care at the premises.

This remodelling of the building will provide two additional consulting rooms, two dedicated operating theatres, an extended waiting room with segregation for dogs and cats, air conditioning throughout the clinical areas of the practice, and improved isolation facilities for pets.

The investment will also mean the practice has new state-of-the-art equipment including a CT scanner.

Severn Veterinary Centre was set up by husband and wife team Jock and Caroline Queen, and joined VetPartners, a veterinary group that includes some of the UK’s most respected and trusted small animal, equine and production animal practices, in 2018.

Jock said: “The renovation of Berkeley House is highly anticipated and will reflect the varied nature of the work our team carries out at the site.

“The extra space, new facilities, improved flow for work and additional air conditioning will make it a fantastic place to work, where everyone will be proud to be a part of.

“Having a CT scanner will be a huge boost for the vets and nurses in the practice as it will enable more investigation and enhanced diagnostic abilities.

“For the first opinion and referral clients it will be mean improved facilities for the patients, for the referring practices we will be able to offer more extensive soft tissue services.”

Pet emergency care provider Vets Now will also be taking advantage of the improved facilities and additional space by opening an out-of-hours pet emergency service at the practice meaning there will be a full emergency veterinary team on-site 24 hours a day.

Jock added: “Having Vets Now join us at Berkeley House is a really positive development for our emergency care and care of our in-patients.

“Vets Now work in partnership with many other veterinary practices across their UK allowing practice teams to not only treat emergency cases in working hours, but in the evening and weekends too. This will be of great benefit to our clients and their pets.”

The work at Berkeley House is expected to be complete in early spring 2019, with Vets Now operating from April 2019.

Once complete, the extension to the practice will complement the existing facilities including a rehabilitation centre complete with a hydrotherapy pool and underwater treadmill.

Severn Vets has six practices across Worcester, Henley-in-Arden, Alcester and Stratford-upon-Avon.

The two other Worcester sites are at Tybridge Street and Lowesmoor Wharf, a dedicated clinic for cats called Cats@ Severn Vets.
