Comedian Justin Moorhouse opens new £2.5m Cheadle veterinary hospital

COMEDIAN Justin Moorhouse took a break from his UK tour to officially open a new £2.5million veterinary hospital in Cheshire.

Justin cut the ribbon to open Woodcroft Veterinary Group’s new hospital in Bird Hall Lane in Cheadle on Saturday.

The star of Phoenix Nights, who is currently on his sell-out Northern Joker stand-up tour, was the special guest at the open day.

Visitors were able to have a tour of the new veterinary hospital – one of the most modern, high-tech facilities in the North of England, providing 24-hour emergency care facilities for poorly pets.

It boasts 10 consulting rooms, six operating theatres, an intensive care unit, ultrasound and endoscopy facilities, CT scanner and visiting MRI scanner, while the practice’s dental, orthopaedic and emergency out-of-hours service will also transfer to the site.

Visitors on Saturday enjoyed a number of attractions, including a pet photographer, face painting, cake sale and a pet first aid demonstration.

Woodcroft Vets provides veterinary care for 15,000 clients throughout Greater Manchester and Cheshire, including Justin, whose chocolate Labrador Coco is a patient.

Justin said: “Woodcroft Vets have always taken great care of Coco, so I’m delighted to officially open their new hospital. It’s an exciting time for Woodcroft Vets to be opening this wonderful facility. I just hope Coco doesn’t have to go there any time soon!”

Councillor John Wright, the deputy mayor of Stockport, also attended and judged and presented prizes at the fun dog show.

Woodcroft Vets Clinical Director James Farrell said: “The open day was a huge success as everyone seemed very impressed by what we have developed from a former office block.

“The move to the new hospital is exciting as it will provide us with much more space and true state-of-the-art equipment and facilities to offer our clients even better care.”

Woodcroft Veterinary Hospital opens to patients on the evening of Tuesday, September 17 and will start taking referral cases the following day.

The major project is being funded by VetPartners, which is made up of some of the UK’s most respected and trusted small animal, equine, mixed and farm veterinary practices. Woodcroft is one of VetPartners’ flagship practices.
